GREENBURGH, N.Y. — About 1,400 Con Edison customers remained without power in Greenburgh Friday morning, 12 days after Hurricane Sandy hit the area.
Con Edison said that 1,403 of Greenburgh's 18,736 customers, or about 7 percent, still did not have power by 8 a.m. Friday. The number more than halves the 3,000 that were without power Thursday morning.
Customers should have power restored by Saturday night, according to Con Edison.
Across Westchester County, about 5 percent of Con Edison's nearly 350,000 customers joined Greenburgh in the dark Friday morning, which also halves Thursday's morning's restoration efforts when 10 percent remained without power.
Utility workers have now restored power to more than 1 million customers across New York City and Westchester County following Hurricane Sandy and Wednesday's Nor'easter. Most of the outages remaining involve small numbers of customer, which may slow the restoration since workers will have to move to a number of different locations to fix issues.
