Accident Slows Down Traffic on Sprain Brook Pkway

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — A small accident on northbound Sprain Brook Parkway Friday at around 9:30 a.m. slowed down the traffic on the road for miles.

A Hyundai Accent hit a Toyota Sienna about a mile from the exit to Greenburgh’s Route 100B.

“I hit my brakes not to hit the person in front of me, who hit his brake, and I was hit from behind, said Brigida Marchionna, the Sienna’s driver, who lives in Yonkers and works as secretary in Elmsford.

State Trooper Iman Kirkland, who responded to the accident, said that there was a third, white car travelling between the Sienna and the Hyundai, but it managed to avoid the collision.

“The white vehicle drove to the shoulder, but the other vehicle didn’t react on time,” he said, adding that no tickets were issued.

The two occupants of the Hyundai declined to comment on the accident.
