GREENBURGH, N.Y. A White Plains man has given new meaning to the expression painting the town red, police say.
Greenburgh Police charged Nicholas Serrano, 20, with four counts of second-degree criminal mischief, a felony, in connection with a spray-painting spree in which several vehicles and buildings were taaged with red paint.
Police say that on April 27 they responded to reports of vandalized property at 70 Virginia Road, where the victims said the vandal struck between midnight on April 26 and 7 a.m. the next morning. Police say the damage to each of the painted vehicles and buildings exceeded $1,500.
Following an anonymous tip, police say they approached Serranos apartment, where they found a trail of red spray paint leading to the door. While speaking with Serrano, police said they saw red spray paint on his hands and sweatshirt.
When asked about the paint, Serrano began to lick his hands and rub them together in attempt to wash them off, police said. Serrano later told police he was partially responsible for the vandalism, according to reports.
He was arrested and taken to the Greenbrugh Police Department for processing.

Petit Larceny Police are searching for the thief who made off with 35 packs of razor blades worth over $600 from Harmon Beauty Supply on April 27.
