Did You Know... Elmsford's Horse Statue

Did you know that Greenburgh's Landmark complex off of Route 9A used to be home to the Butler Estate?

James Butler owned several race horses and commissioned a statue of his favorite horse, Dollar. The 1,000-pound, life-size, iron statue was donated to the Yonkers Raceway and was later offered to the Village of Elmsford.

"Unconfirmed rumors say that the village clerk at the time didn't like the way the horse was facing because the rear end was facing her office," said Elmsford Mayor Robert Williams. "So she had it turned around the face the police department."
