Eastchester Summit Aims To Help Business Women

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – A growing women’s group gave New York’s business-minded females a reason to celebrate Saturday.

Motivators and Creators Women’s Group hosted its second annual women’s entrepreneur summit, “Celebrate You,” at the Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester, a one-day training session that presented women with the “nuts and bolts” of the business industry.

For nearly 12 hours, dozens of women from the around New York City and the Westchester area listened to guest speakers, exchanged ideas and got tips from successful business experts.

“The goal is to connect like-minded women entrepreneurs and educate them and celebrate them,” said the group's founder and summit organizer, Michelle Christie. “This is a day of inspiration and education.”

Created three years ago, the group, specializes in connecting female entrepreneurs with a focus on business success and the achievement of positive results, Christie said.

Throughout the year, the group hosts a number of events, such as shopping expos, children’s events and health and wellness expos.

Saturday’s summit offered a little bit of everything for the visitors, from how to build a business to using social media to help it grow.

Manhattan resident Janice Holt said she came to Eastchester for her first of the group's summits, hoping for ideas on how to get her dream – a nonprofit organization to help at-risk African-American males and elders in Harlem – off the ground.

“This is helping to establish connections, find out what I need to do and not do and bring this to fruition,” Holt said.

Others, like Dawn Keegan Silverstein, owner of Hartsdale’s DKBK Bookkeeping Services, have been regulars at Christie’s events. And they keep coming back.

“I enjoy the energy she puts forward and how upbeat she is all the time,” Silverstein said. “It’s a supportive and enthusiastic environment.”
