Student musicians and singers from Alice Grady Elementary School and Hamilton High School performed and sang holiday songs as the hundreds of visitors welcomed Santa Claus and rode in horse-drawn wagons from Village Hall to the Elmsford Community Center.

"We expect between 800 and 1,000 people and the event is growing each year," said Elmsford Mayor Robert Williams, who joined State AssemblymanThomas Abinanti village board members, school leaders and other village personnel at the event. "The children especially love the rides in the wagons. They wait up to two hours in line for the ride."

Williams said the "Celebration of Lights" has been a source of pride in the village since 2004. Those who attended the event were treated to hot chocolate and cookies at the Community Center where Santa Claus met his fans.

Village and Westchester County Police patrolled along Route 9A and Main Street as the horse and wagons loved through the busy intersection filled with passengers.
