Facebook "Likes" Greenburgh

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – From fire districts to schools to sports to politics, if it’s in Greenburgh, it’s on Facebook.

As of Friday night, there were 88 pages that came up on the social network when searching for Greenburgh. Of those pages, however, only five have more than 50 “likes.”

The most popular page by far belongs to the Greenburgh Nature Center, a 33-acre park located in Greenville. Its page has 609 “likes” and 77 “check-ins,” which mean using your mobile phone to let people know where you are. The Greenburgh Nature Center uses its Facebook page mainly to inform the public about its programs and events, often decorating its announcements with alluring pictures of nature.

The second most popular page with the word “Greenburgh” is a mysterious one. The Greenburgh Talk show, despite its 199 “likes,” doesn’t make very clear what it’s about and doesn’t have much activity. Its latest post was dated from Aug. 2.

In third, with 159 “likes,” is the town itself, which states the mission of its Facebook page as “an online communications forum for the citizens and fans of Greenburgh.” More than a forum, though, it serves as a notice board for the community. A recent post announces a blood drive next Tuesday at Antun's Westchester-Catering.

And we will refrain from mentioning the fourth most popular Facebook page with the word “Greenburgh” lest give the reader the impression that this is a self-promoting article.

Do you know any other popular Facebook page from Greenburgh? Can you tell us the origin of the Greenburgh Talk show page? You can answer on Facebook itself.
