GREENBURGH, N.Y. – The Fairview Fire District is bringing a candy cane-wielding Santa Claus to children in the area.

From Dec. 12 to 18, firefighters will guide Santa up and down the center streets within the Fairview community, warming up the holiday spirit and dispensing candy canes to anyone who greets them.

"It's great over the holidays," said Fairview district secretary Terre Mauro-Wade. "The kids love it, and the adults too. We put lights on the truck and Santa gets on the truck. It's great for the kids. They look forward to it.

Children's faces light up when Santa appears and they even flag down the truck to meet Santa and get a sweet treat. Adults often ask for a photo with Santa and the firefighters, said Mauro-Wade.
