GREENBURGH, N.Y. Inspired by a patriotic garden in Yorktown planted by Councilman Vishnu Patel, Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner looks to create a memorial garden in DiSanti Plaza in Hartsdale.
At the 2011 Veterans Day Parade, someone called the plaza "Patriot Park," making Feiner think that they could build something there that would permanently honor the soldiers.
"I thought it would be nice if we could do some patriotic gardening," said Feiner. "I think it would be a big asset to the avenue. We want to make Hartsdale special and we want to make Greenburgh special."
The garden's organization is expected to start in the coming weeks with the arrangement's completion expected before Memorial Day 2012. Feiner is organizing volunteers, including a volunteer landscaper, so that the project does not cost taxpayers money.
"I think this could be an exciting initiative," he said.
If residents are interested in volunteering, Feiner asks them to email him at email@example.com.
