GREENBURGH, N.Y. State officials should create a special advisory committee to address concerns of those residents who will live closest to the Tappan Zee Bridge during construction, Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said Tuesday.
When construction starts there will be tremendous quality of life issuesimpacting residents who live closest to the bridge and to neighborhoods along the path to the bridge, Feiner said. It would be great if we could start the dialogue and address ways to mitigate the quality of life disruptions caused by the long construction process. Noise issues, construction related problems, inconveniences, evening workthese are issues that need to be addressed.
Feiner will speak about his proposal during Thursday's public hearing at the Westchester Marriott. Feiner suggests that local officials and residents serve on the committee.
Residents have expressed their concerns about living so close to the bridge during construction. Tarrytown residents in the Irving neighborhood fear vibrations could damage their historic houses and dust and increased traffic could become a health issue.
Rockland residents expressed their concern about construction during Tuesday's public hearing on the new bridge at the Palisades Center.
