"I am not sure what triggered" the accident, Feiner told Daily Voice. "I feel this is a dangerous location and believe it’s a matter of time before there will be a pedestrian accident."
This shopping plaza includes restaurants, a hotel, a supermarket, apartments, a movie theater and shops. A few years ago a pedestrian died in an accident crossing the parkway.
"It's only a matter of time before another pedestrian loses his or her life crossing the parkway at this location to go to Rivertowns Square," Feiner said. "A bus stop is important because many employees who work at the shopping center, students who live in the apartments and young people going to the movie theater may not have cars."
"It's outrageous that a major shopping plaza does not have public transportation," Feiner added.
The closest existing bus stop is across the Saw Mill River Parkway --- on Saw Mill River Road.
"That bus stop is not sheltered. And consists of a bench," Feiner said.
The Greenburgh Town Board and Human Rights Committee has urged Westchester County to work with Liberty Bus Company and the owners of Rivertowns Square to place a bus shelter inside the shopping center and to provide bus service from around the region to the shopping plaza.
