With the win, Woodlands received a $3,000 gift certificate from Anaconda Sports that will go towards the redesign of their school team uniforms.
"We thank MSG Varsity and Anaconda Sports for their generous gift," said Greenburgh Central School District No. 7 Superintendent Ronald Smalls, "and commend the students, teachers and community members for taking the time to participate to vote online for Woodlands High School."
The competition took place on the web, said Craig Meyerson, MSG Varsity's regional manager. Each school sent in a photo best representing their school spirit. The photos were put in NCAA-like brackets and the voting was open to the public.
The first place prize was a fully-customized golf cart in the winning team's school colors, priced at approximately $7,500.
MSG Varsity is Cablevision's high school channel, featuring teams from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Created in 2010, it can be found on Optimum's channel 14 (standard definition) and 714 (high-definition).
