Greenburgh, Elmsford to Honor Heroes at Parade

Greenburgh and Elmsford residents will have an opportunity to salute fallen heroes Monday when both municipalities hold annual Memorial Day festivities.

Elmsford hosts its 81st annual Memorial Day Parade and Services Monday. The parade will step off at 10:30 a.m. from the corner of Legion Park. The parade will travel down Main Street and turn left onto South Stone Avenue, ending at Village Hall.

A service with refreshments will follow. This year's Grand Marshal is Louis DeFeo of the U.S. Army Air Force. Though the forecast looks cooperative, if  there is rain the ceremony will take place under a tent next to Village Hall.

Greenburgh's parade will start at the Fairview Fire Department on Rosemont Boulevard and end at the Greenburgh Police Headquarters on Tarrytown Road. Refreshments will be served at the Fire Department after the ceremony at 11 a.m.

Residents are invited to take part in the Memorial Day festivities with their families to honor the men and women who have given their lives for  their country in the armed services.
