Greenburgh Justice Primary Winners Confirmed

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Delores Scott Brathwaite, Arlene Gordon-Oliver and Walter Rivera were confirmed as the winners of last Tuesday’s Democratic primaries for Greenburgh Town Justice after the last 13 Greenburgh election districts reported its results.

Challengers Brathwaite and Rivera ousted incumbents Sandra Forster and Doris Friedman, both on the bench for more than years.

In the other Tuesday’s primary, Town Clerk Judith Beville defeated her challenger Sherron Fantauzzi by a large margin.

The primary winners practically guaranteed that they will take over next year, since no Republican candidate is expected to run in the November elections.

The four winners were already ahead when the county Board of Elections stopped updating its website Wednesday at 1:39 a.m., with the vote count from 13 election districts still missing. The board even informed that those districts would only report their results next week, but Friday at 9:45 a.m the website already showed the vote count from all 83 districts. Following are the number of votes per candidate.

Greenburgh Town Justice

1. Delores Brathwaite (challenger): 2,124 (20 percent)

2. Arlene Gordon-Oliver (incumbent): 1,963 (18 percent)

3. Walter Rivera (challenger): 1,886 (18 percent)

4. Bonnie Orden (challenger): 1,708 (16 percent)

5. Sandra Forster (incumbent): 1,534 (14 percent)

6. Doris Friedman (incumbent): 1,533 (14 percent)

Total: 10,748 votes

Greenburgh Town Clerk

1. Judith Beville: 2,409 (64 percent)

2. Sherron Fantauzzi: 1,379 (36 percent)

Total: 3,788 votes

Those are the results from the machines. The votes made on paper still need to be counted, and there will be recounts and audits before the official result is released, according to the Board of Elections.

In any case, it’s unlikely that the winners will change.
