GREENBURGH, N.Y. Greenburgh Police discovered more than 6 ounces of marijuana in a car at the Granada Crescent condo complex early Thursday morning.
Police said officers saw a car with no license plates drive through a red light and turn right onto Hillside Avenue from westbound Tarrytown Road. Officers turned on their emergency lights to stop the car but the driver continued to speed away and drove down the middle of the road and in the opposite lane, according to the police report.
Officers followed the car until it made a left turn into the north entrance of Granada Crescent, went into the parking lot and made a right turn up a hill to the end and parked in front of building 17, police said. The occupant or occupants then fled the area.
Police searched the area but found no one. As they approached the car, officers smelled marijuana and saw, in plain view, rolled marijuana cigarettes in the center console of the car and bags of marijuana of various sizes scattered throughout the inside of the car.
Officers said approximately 6.2 ounces of marijuana was found in total.
Police spoke to a security guard at the complex who said he has seen the car parked near building 14 for three to four weeks and has seen it come and go between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. but does not know who owns or drives it.
Police could not see who was in the vehicle, which was towed to headquarters and impounded.
