Greenburgh Police: Sleepy Driver Charged with DWI

GREENBURGH, N.Y. - A 30-year-old Spring Valley man was charged with driving while intoxicated after being found asleep at the wheel of a running vehicle at the intersection of Dalewood Drive and Central Avenue, police said.

When a Greenburgh police officer responded to a call on Feb. 11 at 2:10 p.m. he detected a strong odor of alcohol from the breath of Alex Lajoie and his eyes were blood shot and glassy, according to police records. Lajoie later failed three sobriety tests and told the officer he had been drinking vodka at a local bar.

Police reported it was Lajoie's second DWI offense. He was also charged with operating a 2006 Nissan Sentra drunk. He was released to a friend after posting cash bail.

Drug Bust: Police arrested Devon Harris, 22, of Congers with unlawful possession of marijuana after responding to a report of a domestic incident in a parking lot on Central Avenue February 12 at 5:38 p.m, police said. While speaking with Harris an officer observed a small clear plastic baggie containing marijuana.

Broken Window: On February 11 at 9:03 a.m., police received a report of a broken window at a home for sale on Ridge Road. A daughter of homeowner, who has been away since December, said she last visited the home on Feb. 9. Nothing in the home was ransacked. police said.
