GREENBURGH, N.Y. - Searching for innovative ways to improve services at minimal taxpayer expense, the Town of Greenburgh Department of Parks and Recreation is soliciting requests for proposals for architectural and engineering professional services to improve the Town's parks and recreation facilities.

The offering, posted on the Town of Greenburgh website with a due date of Oct. 22, proposes funding for improvements to several local parks including Massaro, AF Veteran, Presser Park (Webb), Travis Hill and Yosemite parks would come from sources other than tax revenue.

According to Town Supervisor Paul Feiner, the Greenburgh Department of Parks and Recreation plans to use non taxpayer dollars to pay for park renovations. The bidders would offer proposals on design and improvements and develop them as funds become available.

"We are trying to think of new initiatives that we can take to encourage more people to want to use our parks and to enjoy the recreation opportunities the town has to offer," Feiner said. "One idea that I’m excited about - demolishing some unused cabanas at AF Veteran Park and replacing the cabanas with a pavilion with some sports - ping pong, shuffleboard, maybe miniature golf."

For more on the proposal included in a detailed explanation and a copy of the bid application, log on to the Town's website bid page.
