GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- William A. Preiser, a longtime Greenburgh resident, died Friday in Andes, N.Y. He was travelling with his son Andrew and a 1942 Brockway to participate in an annual Brockway truck show in Cortland, N.Y., said Danielle Preiser, wife of Preiser's other son Glenn.
He died doing what he loved, she said.
William Preiser was born in October 31, 1924, in White Plains, and joined the Navy after high school. He worked for decades, until his retirement, with his brothers in the trucking and rigging business founded by their father, according to an obituary distributed by the Town of Greenburgh.
Preiser is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ella, his sons Andrew and Glenn, and five grandchildren. A message from the town stated, "Ella has attended almost every planning, zoning and town board meetings for the past 17 years.
Preiser was buried Monday afternoon at the White Plains Rural cemetery.
He was a good man. He lived a long and good life, Ella said, just after the ceremony.
