Greenburgh's Community Center To Host Events Throughout The Winter

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Theodore D. Young Community Center (TYDCC) will be holding programs and events throughout winter 2014. 

A schedule of events and times follows:           TDYCC Cafe: Chef El-Amin’s will serve home cooked soul food featuring chicken, ribs, fish, potato salad, macaroni and cheese and more. Dinner $10 Sandwiches $5  Side dish $2.50. Thursdays beginning Jan. 23 until June 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information call Boston Keith, recreation leader 914-989-3649.

TDYCC Program Open House: This event is an opportunity for families to learn about the variety of programs and events offered by TDYCC to persons of all ages. Representatives from aquatics, TDYCC arts program, seniors program, sports and recreation, youth and teen programs, TDYCC human services program, Xposure Greenburgh Institute, after school program and special events will be available to answer questions about TDYCC programs and services.  Free to the public.Thursday, Jan. 23, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  For more information, call Tina Harper, special events coordinator 914-989-3631. Learning To See: Creative Writing Workshops: TDYCC will host this program with Professor Golda Solomon, poet and spoken word performer. Registration fee is $25 Greenburgh residents. $40 Non-residents payable in advance. Beginner to experienced writers will utilize photography and art work to jump start their creativity.  Entitled "From Page to Performance," the workshops were created by Greenburgh’s first poet laureate, the late Brenda Connor-Bey.
