"My wife and daughter were watching near where the bombings occurred, but fortunately we left the area a little after 2 p.m., before it happened," Wilantowicz said. "It went from a very happy day to a very sad day very quickly. My heart goes out to the victims .I am blessed that my family is okay."
Wilantowicz crossed the finish line in a time of 3:07.41, more than an hour before the explosions occurred.
Three people died and more than 150 were injured in the bombings.
