Have it Your Way, Elmsford

ELMSFORD, N.Y. -- “Seems like everyone in Elmsford went to BK today,” said one local Twitter user whose comment got re-tweeted at least three times.

That’s in fact the impression one would have Wednesday afternoon, judging by the long line of cars that formed at the drive-through of Elmsford’s Burger King, at East Main Street.

The restaurant reopened Tuesday, after undergoing a renovation that dragged for a year and cost $3 million dollars, according to its owners.

The new Burger King pleases not only the stomach but the eyes too. At night, the red walls of the dinning room, visible from outside, contrast with the yellowish color of the building, which was purposely built in the same style as the Bed Bath & Beyond store behind it.

“It was unbelievable how big they made it,” said Emily Baca, who lives nearby and came to the Burger King Wednesday evening with her sister Elvia, her parents Alfredo and Yrma Baca, and her cousins Melissa, Dana, Caroline and Lisset. The entire family was very happy to have the Burger King back.

“I missed the Burger King,” said Yrma Baca.

The new Burger King will employ 85 people hourly and six salaried, said David Sutz, one of the four owners.

The drive-through will open 24/7 and the dining room from 6 a.m. to midnight.
