GREENBURGH, N.Y. A home health care aide has been charged with stealing cash and jewelry from the home of an elderly woman she was supposed to be caring for, police reported Tuesday.
Crystal Cromartie, 45, of White Plains, allegedly took more than $1,600 in cash and jewelry from the home of two elderly women, one of whom needed a health aide. The women lived in the Hillside/Wyndover section of town.
Police said they began investigating the reported larcenies May 12. Cromartie, a privately employed aide, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, police said.
The investigation into Cromartie is ongoing and further charges could be filed, police said. They said this case may not be an isolated incident. Cromartie, who has also been known to go by the name Crystal Nimons, has 15 previous convictions related to grand and petit larceny.
