To the Editor:

I would like to thank Edgemont residents who attended the Edgemont petition sufficiency hearing on April 24th for participating in the petition review process. I will carefully review all the comments received --supporting and objecting to the petition sufficiency before I make my decision whether a referendum can legally be held early this summer. The issue: Does the petition comply with NYS law which governs incorporation procedures. If yes, the referendum will be held. If no the petition will be rejected.

The town will continue to provide Edgemont residents with the highest quality services. We are currently in the process of installing pedestrian activated crosswalk lights on Ardsley Road, at Seely Place. And will soon install a pedestrian activated crosswalk light crossings at Edgemont Road, at Barclay Road and the Crane's pond. This is being done at the urging of the Old Edgemont Association. We want to make it safer for people to cross busy streets.

In addition, at the urging of the Old Edgemont Association, we plan to install a new pathway from the crosswalk at the Crane's pond to Artillery Lane. Last week residents of Edgemont who live off of Marion Ave received good news. An application submitted to New York State to build a sidewalk on Central Ave from Marion to the four corners in Hartsdale was approved --making it safer for Edgemont residents who live in this section of town to safely walk to the Hartsdale train station. The grant we received was for $792,000 and the sidewalk should be built in 2018. We are currently completing a new sidewalk/curbing on Ft Hill Road.
