Man Steals From Greenburgh CVS And Flees, Not Far

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Steve Hart seemed nervous and short of breath when a police officer caught up with him at Dobbs Ferry Road, police said.

Perhaps perceiving the approaching officer, Hart dropped a white plastic bag with the three Duracell battery packs and the four toothbrushes he had stolen from the CVS store on the Knollwood Road’s shopping plaza, police said.

The CVS store manager Ricardo Dobson called the Greenburgh police Friday morning to report the theft. After the police arrived, Dobson told the officer that Hart, who was wearing grey sweatpants and a blue shirt, ran into the wood strip between the back of the plaza and Dobbs Ferry Road, police said.

The officer went after the suspect through the woods and arrested him when he was walking east on Dobbs Ferry Road, police said.

Hart, 44, a resident at White Plains, was charged with possession of stolen properties before being released, and is due in court on Oct. 21, police said.
