UPDATE Tuesday -- Regular weekday service on the Harlem Line was restored Tuesday from Southeast to Grand Central Terminal.
Commuters between Wassaic and Southeast were transported by MTA buses, which followed the train schedule.
The MTA said the New Haven Line's Danbury and Waterbury Branch Lines remain suspended.
UPDATE Monday, 9 p.m. – For Westchester commuters on the Hudson and New Haven Lines, train service will operate on a regular weekday schedule Tuesday, according to MTA Metro-North. Still, service will remain suspended on the upper Harlem Line, with no trains operating above North White Plains.
The New Haven Line's New Canaan, Danbury and Waterbury Branch Line Services will also remain suspended Tuesday.
The MTA website says customers should pay attention to schedule changes throughout the day and that service will continue to be restored as areas are deemed safe.
UPDATE Monday, 5 p.m – MTA Metro-North has announced service has resumed on the entire Hudson Line and most of the New Haven Line. However, service remains suspended on the upper Harlem Line – trains are only running below North White Plains.
The New Haven Line's New Canaan, Danbury and Waterbury Branch Line Services are also suspended.
All lines are still operating on a Sunday schedule.
UPDATE Monday, 1 p.m. – MTA Metro-North will resume passenger train service beginning 2 p.m. Monday.
Trains are expected to run on a Sunday weekend schedule.
The Hudson Line will begin only running trains from Croton-Harmon to Grand Central Terminal and the Harlem line is only expected to run from North White Plains to Grand Central Terminal. The New Haven Line remains suspended, as well as service to the upper Hudson and Harlem lines.
UPDATE Sunday, 9:30 p.m. – Metro-North railroads will remain closed on Monday, according to MTA spokesperson Marjorie Anders, who told News 12 Westchester that the extent of the damage caused by Hurricane Irene was too great for the trains to start running so soon.
"We are not in shape to operate," Anders said. "This storm really slammed us."
Anders said Metro-North serves about 125,000 commuters.
Most subways in New York City will resume running at 6 a.m., but service will not be as frequent as a typical Monday morning, according to a notice on the MTA website. Riders should expect longer wait times and crowded trains. Some subway trains will not resume operation at 6 a.m.
Grand Central Terminal will also reopen on Monday.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – Nearly 74,000 Westchester residents are without power Sunday afternoon.
Tropical Storm Irene has caused major flooding throughout the county, with most officials urging residents to stay indoors. Many major roadways remain closed to non-emergency vehicles. There are still no trains running on any of the MTA Metro-North Railroad lines.
At 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Con Edison reported that of its 348,198 Westchester customers, 47,381 were without power. Con Edison hopes to have much of the power restored by 8 p.m.
Notably, roughly 82 percent of NYSEG’s Westchester customers do not have power. NYSEG is reporting 26,598 total outages of its 32,445 county customers.
There are 905,334 outages reported statewide, according to a press release from Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Metro-North is beginning to assess damage to all three of its Harlem, Hudson and New Haven lines. Marjorie Anders, MTA spokesperson, told The Daily Westchester there have been mudslides and power lines down on some tracks, such as in Valhalla, and there is 10 feet of mud covering parts of the tracks near the Glenwood station. She said railroad lines are being evaluated by crew members operating high rail vehicles, which have steel wheels and are safer than regular passenger trains.
