Nationwide Tile Retailer Eyes Greenburgh Location

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – A nationwide tile retail chain is looking to open a location in Greenburgh.

The Tile Shop is hoping to set up shop along Central Park Avenue in what would be its first Westchester County location.

Plans filed with the Greenburgh Building Department call for the store to move in at 423 Central Park Ave. in Scarsdale, once home to Office Depot and Spookytown.

Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said the prospect of a new business coming to Greenbrugh gives people hope and a feeling that the town is healthy and thriving.

“I’m always pleased when any vacant store is replaced with a new store because it creates a momentum on its own,” Feiner said.

The Tile Shop, which says it was founded on the idea of providing do-it-yourselfers with the finest natural stones and ceramics, has filed building applications with the town, Building Department officials said Tuesday.

No timeline has been set as a permit has yet to be issued, the Building Department said. The Central Park Avenue location would be The Tile Shop’s fifth in New York state.
