New Bridge Still On Time To Open In 2018

Even though drivers will have to drive over the disintegrating Tappan Zee Bridge even longer than thought, the Thruway Authority says the new bridge will be finished on time in 2018, according to reports.

Construction continues on the Tappan Zee Bridge that is set to open in 2018, although some section openings have been delayed from December to mid-2017.

Saying it didn't make sense to open in the middle of winter, the Thruway Authority Executive Director Robert Megna said the opening of the first span has been pushed back from this December, until at least spring or summer of 2017, reported lohud.com.

Durng a meeting earlier this week, Megna insisted that the $4 billion replacement project will finish on time in 2018, said lohud.com.
