GREENBURGH, N.Y. As the blue ribbon was cut, the women smiled, proud of what was to come. Weight Watchers had officially opened the county's first new retail store in Greenburgh.
On Friday morning, Greenburgh's Weight Watchers leaders invited their clients to a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate their launch.
"This store is going to bring a lot of attention to the Greenburgh area, but it will serve the whole Westchester community," said Pat Dishinger, Weight Watcher's PR ambassador. "We're absolutely thrilled. I think that this store here is going to create a lot of success for Weight Watchers."
A mix of approximately 25 leaders and members huddled inside to discuss the new store's layout, while residents weighed in on scales hidden behind blue semi-circled shields. The side wall was lined with Weight Watchers-sponsored cookbooks, snacks, pedometers and walking kits.
"The location is a wonderful opportunity for so many more members to be able to access us," said District Manager Jeanette Degiovanni. "We have full retail hours, so those that are shopping will be here. It's a wonderful step forward for Weight Watchers, and we're more than pleased about coming to Greenburgh."
With the old location in Scarsdale closing down, local members were asked to transfer to the new store, which provides clients with more services, including longer business hours and more meetings per week.
"The members seem to love it," said receptionist Lorraine Stern. "They're all very happy with it. I think it's so gorgeous. It's white, it's bright. It's a beautiful place."
