GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- John Jones is still waiting for whoever hit his car to come forward and pay for the damages. As reported, Jones was having coffee last Monday morning at Franks, on East Main Street in Greenburgh, when an unknown driver sideswiped the front of his 1996 Honda Accord that was parked outside.
The damage included the dislodging of the vehicle's bumper. According to Jones' account, an employee of Franks said a man entered the café that morning saying he had a hit a car, but Jones was on the other side of the room and didnt hear him. The man left shortly after.
Detective Robert C. Caralyus, of Elmsfords police department, said the police usually doesnt investigate cases of this nature.
If there was somebody injured, then I would follow up, Caralyus said. He added that if the driver looks for Jones, the case will solve itself.
Jones said he remains hopeful that the hit-and-runner will eventually show up at Franks.
I will go there every morning to wait for him, he said.
