Police: Apparent Suicide Victim Found In Elmsford With Gunshot Wound

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Greenburgh police discovered the body of a 70-year-old man lying in the roadway of Payne Road in Elmsford with a gunshot wound to his head in an apparent suicide, according to a police report.

A shotgun was found near the body, according to police.

Greenburgh police received the call at 7:20 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

No foul play is suspected, according to police, but the incident is still being investigated.

The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

UPDATE, 2:20 p.m.: This is the second suicide in Greenburgh in five months after a man killed himself with a handgun on South Central Park Avenue on April 25.
