Popham Road Bridge To Close This Week For Work

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – Motorists heading through Scarsdale to start the weekend might want to avoid the Popham Road Bridge.

The bridge will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic from 10 a.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday as work on the replacement project continues.

According to a construction notice, the bridge closure is necessary for contractors to install the new concrete structural deck on the south side of the bridge, which requires approximately 24 hours to set.

Westbound Popham Road vehicular traffic will be detoured south on Scarsdale Avenue west to Harney Road, and north to Garth Road back to Popham Road.

Eastbound Popham Road vehicular traffic will be detoured south on Garth Road east to Harney Road, and north on Scarsdale Avenue back to Popham Road.

During this construction activity, pedestrians must use the Metro-North and Freightway parking garage pedestrian bridges to cross over the Metro-North Railroad tracks.
