Shoppers Rave as Supermarkets Open in Greenburgh

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – A pair of Greenburgh supermarkets are getting rave reviews from shoppers in their opening day debuts.

On Friday, the town welcomed H-Mart, an Asian-inspired grocery store, and Stop & Shop, as both stores opened their doors for business.

Jeffrey Louie and his sister, Sylvia, said H-Mart’s opening in Hartsdale will save them trips to Flushing, Queens where they had been visiting the store’s other locations.

“I was super excited,” Sylvia said of the opening. “They have a great variety and a lot of Asian food available.”

Outside, multi-colored banners waved as the 371 N. Central Ave. store welcomed a steady flow of shoppers.

Like his sister, Jeffrey Louie said it was exciting to have an Asian supermarket in Greenburgh.

“There are not a lot of Asian supermarkets around,” he said.

Down White Plains Road, in Tarrytown, Stop & Shop customers were equally excited about the store’s opening in Premier Plaza.

Shoppers there raved about the 67,500-square-foot mega-store’s size and design.

“It’s absolutely lively,” Greenburgh resident Jill Harrington said. “It’s so bright and clean.”
