Tappan Zee Construction Lane Closures Continue This Week

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Tappan Zee Constructors is continuing work with an increased marine-law enforcement presence, in addition to lane closures and the relocation of the right lane of the I-87/I-287 on the New NY Bridge from Monday through Thursday, July 3.

In observance of the Fourth of July, construction crews will not be working over the holiday weekend. 

In Westchester County, crews will conduct utility re-locations in the right lane of I-87/I-287 northbound between Interchange 9 and the existing Tappan Zee Bridge from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the week of June 30. The overnight operation requires the closing of the right-hand lane. The Thruway will remain open at all times.

Construction will continue in the Hudson River as crews continue the installation of the foundations for the New NY Bridge. Work will include pile driving between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

A second shift of workers will also continue pile welding operations associated with permanent foundations.

Work will also continue on the Rockland temporary work trestle near the county shoreline, including pile driving to install the temporary foundations needed to support the platform.

In addition to construction, there will be a lane closures. Below is a list of lane closures for New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287): 

Monday, Northbound, right lane near exit 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Monday, Northbound, right lane near exit 9, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Tuesday, July 1, Northbound, right lane near exit 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tuesday, July 1, Northbound, right lane near exit 9, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Wednesday, July 2, Northbound, right lane near exit 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Wednesday, July 2, Northbound, right lane near exit 9, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Thursday, July 3, Northbound, Right Lane near exit 10, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
