Barack Obama is expected to speak at Sunset Cove in front of the Tappan Zee Bridge later this afternoon to highlight the need for infrastructure improvements.
Students at Sleepy Hollow High School got a rare half-day because of the president, which already put him in their good graces.
"It's awesome," Chantel Cornejo said. "I would ask him if I could take a selfie with him. I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of him."
Aranxa Anorve said she would ask Obama how he likes his job.
"He's doing a good job," Anorve said. "He got elected to a second term because he is doing things for the people."
Jason Guaillo said if he was old enough, he would vote for Obama.
Mark Gagliardi of Eclipse Hair said despite the potential traffic nightmare, Obama coming to Tarrytown was good publicity for the village.
"It puts Tarrytown on the map," Gagliardi said.
Gagliardi said he had no hair care tips for Obama.
"It's fine the way it is," Gagliardi said.
Dina McCue of Horsefeathers Restaurant said it was exciting to have Obama come to Tarrytown.
"A president comes here once in a blue moon," McCue said.
McCue said she remembers Richard Nixon coming to Tarrytown and how exciting it was. McCue said if Obama came to Horsefeathers, she would serve him a hamburger.
"Unless he's a vegetarian, then I'd offer him vegetarian chili," McCue said.
Lili Sun of Town's Cleaners said he thought people were kidding when they said Obama was coming.
"It's very exciting," Sun said. "It took me a while to believe it."
Sun said she would schedule her deliveries around the potential traffic. She said she would ask Obama about immigration if given the chance.
Jairo Triguero of Grape Expectations said it was awesome to have Obama in the village.
"It shows that he pays attention to what happens outside the city," Triguero said. "He cares about the people. This will bring attention to Tarrytown."
Triguero said if Obama came in, he would figure out what kind of wine he likes and whether he's having it with a meal.
"Being president is the hardest job in the world," Triguero said.
