Tarrytown Planning Board OKs Greystone Subdivision

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – The proposed Greystone-on-Hudson subdivision, which would be east of Route 9 and Lyndhurst, has been given preliminary approval by the Tarrytown Planning Board.

The proposed subdivision would place eight homes on 28 acres in Tarrytown and 12 homes on 56 acres in Greenburgh. The subdivision plan also calls for the donation of a 21.7-acre parcel and the development of a parking lot for Taxter Ridge Park in Greenburgh. Developers also will connect the Old Croton Aqueduct in Tarrytown and provide trails from the subdivision to Taxter Ridge Park.

Planning Board members adopted findings on the final environmental impact statement and approved the subdivision on a conditional basis during their May meeting. The subdivision still needs site approval from the Tarrytown Planning Board, as well as approval from the Tarrytown Board of Trustees, Tarrytown Architectural Review Board, Tarrytown Department of Public Works, Town of Greenburgh, Westchester County Department of Health and several state agencies before construction can begin.

The proposed subdivision would include houses up to 15,000 square feet in Tarrytown, based on village code restrictions. One unit of affordable housing will need to be provided in Tarrytown, although developers are working with the Board of Trustees to find an off-site location.

The proposed subdivision sits near three wetland areas in Greenburgh, which officials note will be preserved and set off from the houses.

Residents in the subdivision will use an entrance on Route 9 to get in and out of the proposed site. Roundabend Road will be used as an emergency access way.
