The 9/11 Decade: Greenburgh Getting a Piece of WTC

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The Port Authority will donate a 15-inch piece of steel from the World Trade Center to the Town of Greenburgh, Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said.

The artifact will be incorporated into the People’s Memorial, the Hartsdale monument dedicated to the victims of 9/11 attacks. The idea is to make the monument even more meaningful before the event commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11, scheduled for Sept. 11 in the Richard Presser Park, where the monument is located.

Feiner added that the town will hear from the artist who designed the monument’s 110-foot long wall, before deciding whether the piece of steel will be attached to it or just placed nearby.
