Things for Kids to Do This Week Near Greenburgh

GREENBURGH, N.Y. - With many kids on winter break this week, the pressure is on parents to keep them busy, so the following is a sampling of some activities close to home to help everyone keep their sanity.

  • Sportime USA in Elmsford is offering a special winter break promotion all week where for one price kids can get unlimited use of more than 200 video games, bumper cars, laser tag, XD theater, rock climbing wall and 20 tokens. Pizza, drinks and snacks are also included, along with arts and crafts, movie time and board games. Half day and full day available. Trained staff for supervision. Reservations required.   • The Greenburgh Public Library is showing the movie Breaking Dawn Part I Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Movie is rated PG-13.
  • On the big screen, the Greenburgh Multiplex and the All Westchester Saw Mill Multiplex Cinema have several kid appropriate movies currently playing. The Greenburgh Multiplex has three 3D movies to choose from: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, rated PG, 12:20, 2:35, 4:55, 7:10, 9:40; Hugo, rated PG, 1, 3:50, 6:35, 9:15; Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, rated PG, 12:35, 3:30, 6:30, 9:25. At All Westchester, Journey 2, 1, 3:30, 6:40; Star Wars, 1:05, 4:05, 7:15; The Secret World of Arrietty, rated G, 1:10, 3:35, 6:35.
  • White Plains Lanes offers 56 lanes of bowling fun from 9 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and weekends. Call (914) 948-2677 for lane availability and reservations.
  • The Greenburgh Nature Center has a special Winter Wildlife Wonders program on Thursday and Saturday at 2 p.m. A naturalist will give a hands-on approach to exploring how animals survive in the winter.
