Torched Car Found Near Greenburgh Football Field

GREENBURGH, N.Y. - A torched vehicle was discovered Sunday near the Woodlands High School football field.

Greenburgh police received a call about 6:53 p.m. from a man who said he was walking his dog on a path near the school and came upon a burned 2010 Buick. The caller said he walked the same path the day before and the vehicle was not there.

A police investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen in Yonkers.

Bang, Bang: On Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m., police received a call of shots fired at Clarendon Place in Scarsdale. Someone reported hearing two loud bangs five minutes apart, which he believed could have been gunfire. Neighbors in the area reported noise came from the area of Central Park Avenue and Mt. Joy Avenue. The Greenville Fire Department reported hearing the noise in the same area.

Pot Unluck: A 39-year-old White Plains man was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop for turning left from Oak Street to Manhattan Avenue without signaling Jan. 26 at 10:13 p.m. A search of the glove compartment box revealed five small bags of marijuana. A Department of Motor Vehicles check showed the driver had an active warrant from White Plains.
