Two Arrested for Weapon Possession in Elmsford

Christopher Dunkley, 23, and Bridget Maureen Burgin, 27, were arrested for criminal possession of a weapon in Elmsford on Monday.

At 2:55 p.m. on Monday, Sergeant Robert Gramaglia and Officer Max Bucchieri say they witnessed a black 2007 BMW make an unsafe lane change on Saw Mill River Road. Upon pulling the BMW over at the corner of Route 9A and Payne Street, police reported the smell of marijuana. The drug was confirmed in the car by K-9 officer Detective Wayne Papovitch and police dog Metro. A loaded 380 caliber handgun was also found.

Dunkley, the vehicle's driver, who has a suspended New York State license, resides in Brooklyn. He was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and for driving without a valid license. Passenger Burgin is from Bothell, Wash.

Both were arraigned at Greenburgh Town Court by Judge Arlene Gordon-Oliver and taken to Westchester County Jail.

After appearing in court Wednesday morning, they were assigned council and ordered back to county jail, said Lieutenant Brian Ryan, commanding officer of the special investigations unit with the Greenburgh Police Department. Dunkley is being held on a $20,000 cash bail, while Burgin's was set between $5,000 and $10,000. Their next court date is June 17 at 9:30 a.m.
