The men, 32-year-old and 45-year-old Yonkers residents, were found Sunday around 2:41 p.m. in the basement area of the Fania Deli & Grocery store at 18 Lawrence St., after receiving a report of two men down, said Sgt. Dean Politopoulos.

When officers arrived they discovered the men, both in "lifeless states," down on the floor, Politopulos said.

Emergency responders rendered medical aid in an attempt to revive one of the males to no avail; both men were pronounced deceased at the scene, he added.

Apparently, the two men had come into the store asking to the use the bathroom and when they didn't come back out, a store employee found them on the floor.

Officers cordoned off the area and detectives from the Major Case Unit, Narcotics Unit, and Crime Scene Unit responded to investigate the deaths.

Preliminary investigation has found their deaths may be an overdose situation; a substance was recovered from the scene and there were no apparent indications of foul play, Politopulos added.

Detectives are actively investigating this incident, reviewing surveillance video, interviewing witnesses, and processing forensic evidence, police said.

Both bodies were recovered by the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation. Their identities are being withheld pending family notifications.
