Westchester Construction Worker Falls To Death

A 52-year-old construction worker from Northern Westchester fell to his death from a scaffolding on Route 22 in Brewster on Wednesday, state police said.

An investigation revealed that at approximately 7:30 a.m., 52-year-old Keith P. Bonnes of Cortlandt Manor, had fallen approximately 15 to 20 feet from Hydro Mobile scaffolding at 899 Route 22, according to state police.

A co-worker immediately contacted Putnam County 911 to report the incident. Moments later, Brewster EMS, EMStar Ambulance, and the Village of Brewster Police arrived on scene to rendered medical assistance. Bonnes reportedly sustained a head and chest injury as a result of the fall.

The victim was transported to Danbury Hospital by EMStar and was reported to be conscious.

Upon his arrival to Danbury Hospital, the victim went into cardiac arrest and was subsequently pronounced deceased several hours following the accident.

The incident, which appears to be accidental in nature, remains under investigation. Additionally, Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) was notified.
