'It doesn't end," said Broccoli, who joined his mother Nancy on their narrow Dobbs Ferry street to dig out. "The first couple of storms were OK, but since the really cold weather started we have just been piling up the snow."
Main roads and highways were filled with slush and melting snow but passable as the sun popped through the clouds Friday mroning. But secondary roads in many areas had plowed snow piled as high as 4 and 5 feet with many parked cars hidden from view.
Robert Felix of Yonkers was still trying to get his car out after the last three snow events.
"I dug out four times already, the last time Monday, and now it's blocked in again," Felix said. "I've been taking the bus to work in White Plains. I hope we get warmer so this stuff will melt."
Pax dumped another 10-16 inches of snow in Westchester communities, with as much as 4-6 inches overnight closing schools for a second straight day and leaving municipalities and residents to dig out. More than 50 inches of snow has fallen in Westchester this winter.
And it is not ever yet. Forecasts call for another snow event Saturday that could leave up to three inches.
A crew of right workers from Donald Brown Roofing Co. in Hastings-on-Hudson teamed up to shovel snow from a resident's driveway and sidewalk near the Yonkers-Hastings border overlooking the Hudson River on Warburton Ave. Friday.
"There's no place to put the snow," the men said. "We would like to throw it in the Hudson River but we just pile it up."
Nancy Broccoli was resigned to the fact that winter of 2013-2014 would be remembered for its repeated snow events.
"I don't think I ever remember it like this, one snow after another and no letup," she said. "And I have to go to work in Armonk today, so I'm hoping to get there soon. And I hear it's going to snow again Saturday. Nice."
