White Plains Forum Explores Resisting ICE, Deportations, Registration

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A free community forum on immigration issues will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14, in White Plains.

The event open to the public and is organized by Hudson Valley Community Coalition and WESPAC and co-sponsored by Community Voices Heard, LatinoJustice and the Westchester Coalition against Islamophobia.

It starts at 6 p.m. with networking and light refreshments. The panel discussion starts at 6:30 p.m.

It will be held at the White Plains Presbyterian Church, 39 North Broadway.

Spanish language translation will be provided. (Se proporcionará traducción en Español)

Mayra Hidalgo Salazar, executive director of Hudson Valley Community Coalition, will act as moderator.

Also on the panel will be:

  • Jose Perez, deputy general counsel, LatinoJustice.
  • Afaf Nasher, executive director, Council on American-Islamic Relations, New York Chapter.
  • Vanessa Merton, director, Immigration Justice Clinic, Haub Law School at Pace University.

Topics will include: sanctuaries, resisting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportations and special registration; and community and legal responses.
