Woman Arrested for Forgery in Elmsford

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- A woman was arrested for trying to cash fraudulent checks at the M&T Bank  at 218 Saw Mill River Rd. in Elmsford, police said in a press release.

Elizabeth Tingle, 50, a resident at West 141th Steet in Manhattan, tried to cash two checks totaling $11,715.99, using a fraudulent driver’s license and a fraudulent bank card, police said.

She had attempted the same check-cashing scheme on Aug. 9 at another branch of the M&T Bank, in Ossining, police said.

Tingle’s arrest followed a joint investigation from Greenburgh and Ossining police departments and the U.S. Secret Services at White Plains. She was charged with five counts of felony and arraigned, and is now in custody at the Westchester County Jail, police said.
