According to officials, two of the robberies appear to be connected, both involving a suspect on a bicycle who displayed a handgun. Police say physical force was used by the suspects during the other two incidents.
At 4:12 p.m. in Leslie Sutherland Park, two victims were approached by a man in his 20s. They were knocked to the ground before the suspect took their cell phones, money and jewelry before fleeing the scene. The victims treated and released.
At 8:21 p.m. in the area of 125 Oak St., an adult male was approached by a man on bicycle. The victim said the suspect pointed a handgun at him. The victim then grabbed the suspect and pushed him away before fleeing.
At 10:53 p.m, in front of Enrico Fermi School, another victim was approached by a man on a bicycle who displayed a handgun and demanded the victim's belongings. The victim gave over a cell phone and money and fled. There were no injuries.
At 11:26 p.m., another victim was walking home in the area of 1 Leighton Ave. when a red, four-door vehicle pulled up beside him. Two male suspects exited the vehicle, punched the victim, stole a suitcase containing his belongings and fled.
According to police spokesman Detective Lt. Patrick McCormack, no suspects have been apprehended at this time.
