SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Helen (Marano) Patavino, a resident of Reeds Landing in Springfield for over nine years, died Sunday, Oct. 20. She was 99.
Patavino was born in 1914, in Mt. Vernon; daughter of Anthony and Adelina (Delzio) Marano. She lived her early years in Mt. Vernon and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School as an honor student. She went on to train as a bookkeeper and executive secretary and held many secretarial positions throughout her lifetime, even working on Nelson Rockefeller's re-election campaigns. She was an executive secretary for Ciba-Geigy Co. of Ardsley, prior to her retirement. After marriage, the family moved to Yonkers, where the family resided for many years. They moved to Hartsdale, in 1964 and resided there until their retirement. Helen and her husband, Carmen moved to Wilbraham, in 1999.
Patavino is survived by her daughters, Ann Votta (Alan) of Sarasota, Fla., and Emma Migdal (Edward) of Wilbraham; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; and husband, Carmen A. Patavino.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Oct. 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Forastiere-Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, Mass. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 24 at 8:15 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 64 Main St., Wilbraham. Burial will follow in the Mass. Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
