IRVINGTON, N.Y. - James K. Sadewhite of Irvington died Oct. 26. He was 66.
Sadewhite was born in Yonkers, son of James K. Sr. and Frances Yaskovic Sadewhite, he grew up in Valhalla and graduated from SUNY Potsdam where he earned a BS in Education and a performance degree on the clarinet. He earned two masters degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University. He taught music in the Dobbs Ferry public schools for 32 years while maintaining a part-time conducting career. After his retirement in 2002, he worked full-time conducting orchestras. He continued to conduct the Summit (NJ) Symphony, the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Philharmonic, and added the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra.
Sadewhite is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; son, Alec; daughter, Margaret Delaney; four grandsons; and sister, Sandra Bourne of Carmel.
