Joseph J. Scolza, 90, Of Hartsdale

HARTSDALE, N.Y. – Joseph J. Scolza Jr., of Hartsdale, died Sunday, May 24. He was 90.

Scolza was born on Feb. 22, 1925, in New York City to Joseph and Mary Scolza.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and took part in the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

He was predeceased by his wife, Katherine and seven siblings, and is survived by his children, Joyce Altmann of Port Chester, Mary Ellen Hughes of White Plains and Janet Vetere of Elmsford, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home, 491 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Hartsdale.

Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Goshen, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association are welcomed.
