Nikki was the daughter of the late Lloyd W. Cummings Sr. of Red Hook, and Janice (Williams) Cummings of Poughkeepsie.
She was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and attended Dutchess Community College. Nikki was a long time employee of Gannett Newspapers in White Plains, where she was one of the first female Pressmen.
In addition to her mother, Janice M. Cummings, Nikki is survived by her 14-year-old daughter, Jai Dah Marie Cummings; her sisters, Carla M. Cummings (Tina) of Atlanta, Karen R. Cummings of Poughkeepsie, Yvette M. Rice of Philadelphia, Sondrea D. Cuvilje (Kim) of Lumberton, NC, a brother, Mark A. Beatty, of Albany, NY, as well as the father of her daughter, John Watkins.
She also leaves an uncle, Roger A. Williams (Theresa) and 14 nieces and nephews who all have children of their own. Nikki was predeceased by her brother Lloyd W. Cummings Jr. with whom she shared a very special bond, and her father, Lloyd Cummings Sr.
Along with a host of friends, Nikki is also survived by her two special childhood friends, Shana Robinson and Rita Daniels, and her best friend, Lillian Goldson.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 15 Smith Street, in Poughkeepsie. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with burial at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
