HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Mario A. Proia of Hastings-on-Hudson died June 23. He was 63.
Born in Fontana Liri, Frosinone, Italy, Proia emigrated to the U.S. after marrying Anne Bianchi. They settled in Hastings in 1951 and he worked as a foreman for the town of Greenburgh Highway Department until retiring. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, racing and vegetable gardening.
Proia is survived by his wife Anne; a daughter, Carmelita (Timothy) Cacace; a son, Riccardo (Denise) Proia; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Riccardo.
Visiting hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry. A Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Church of St. Matthew in Hastings.
